How yard sizes work
A cubic yard is a 3x3x3 foot cube. A 10 yard container holds about three pickup-truck loads; a 20 yard holds roughly six; a 40 yard can hold the debris from a full commercial gut.
Quick sizing chart
10 yard: concrete, dirt, small bathroom. 15 yard: garage cleanout, single-layer roof. 20 yard: kitchen remodel, flooring for a whole home. 30 yard: new construction, large additions. 40 yard: demolition and commercial cleanouts.
